We get asked quite frequently, “What is a Trunk Show”? Therefore we wanted to put together this page to not only explain what a trunk show is but also address some other frequently asked questions that we experience. Please understand not all of the below information will apply to every bridal and social occasion store but these are the common practices as we know them.
What is a Trunk Show?
A Trunk Show is an exclusive event at which a dress designer (or representative) visits a bridal salon or social occasion boutique with his or her entire collection of new dresses. Since most retailers often only carry a few dresses from a designer’s collection, Trunk Shows allow customers the opportunity to see and try on dresses that wouldn’t ordinarily be available at that store. Trunk Shows can last anywhere from one day to an entire week and appointments book up quickly.
Why Should I Attend a Trunk Show?
Trunk shows are a great opportunity for you to meet the designer and or representative so you can get their personalized feedback on what looks great on you. Additionally, you’ll have an opportunity to try on and view more gowns than are traditionally in inventory at the store.
Do I Have to Pay to Attend a Trunk Show?
No, but if you want a one on one appointment with the designer you will more than likely be asked for your credit card information to secure the appointment. In most cases your card will not be charged unless you cancel at the last minute or are a no show. In the cases where the store owner does charge you to book an appointment with a designer then that booking fee can be put towards your dress purchase. Now, this is not the case every time but the above are common practices for the bridal and social occasions industry.
Can I Bring Someone With Me to My Appointment?
Yes! Choosing your gown alone is serious business and we do not suggestion going to a store alone.
