Citrus fruits always go well in drinks. This Blood Orange Caipirinha is the perfect balance of blood orange citrus and a sugary sweet drink. The Caipirinha is the national cocktail of Brazil and is traditionally made with Cachaca, lime and sugar. To try other flavors, simply substitute the blood orange for other citrus fruits and find the one you like best, though we agree the blood orange is a great place to start!
PREP TIME: 2 minutes and serves one
- 2 ounces Cachaca
- 2 teaspoons superfine sugar
- half a blood orange, cut into wedges
- Muddle the orange wedges and sugar together in a cocktail shaker. Add the Cachaca and shake with ice.
- Strain into a glass over ice, or pour the entire shaken contents (fruit and all) into a glass. It’s important to use the whole fruit and not just juice to get the oils from the skin. Garnish with a blood orange slice.
