We love the creativity brides and grooms are displaying for their recessional and exit send-offs. Back in the day, tossing rice after the ceremony was customary in the United States. No one is sure when or where this tradition originated, though it is thought to harken back to ancient times when the tossing of rice on a newly married couple symbolized fertility, both for the couple and their crops. Today there are many interesting choices both for the walk back down the aisle as husband and wife and to mark the end of the evening’s celebration, when the newly married couple exit the reception. Here are some memorable ideas and beautiful photos depicting some of our favorite send-offs.
