We haven’t seen many garland cakes, but then again Erica OBrien of Erica OBrien Cake Design in Hamden, Connecticut seems to have her finger on the pulse of wedding cake trends. Featured below is one she shared on The Cake Blog. Inspired by garland pins on Pinterest, she decided to translate this idea onto a cake. We must say it was a sensational idea! Erica says, “This garland inspired cake pretty much sums up my cake philosophy: flirty, festive, and not overly stuffy.” We couldn’t agree more!
Tissue paper garland recreated out of “wafer paper for an edible twist.”
“Once deciding on a fun color palette of watermelon, magenta, and hot pink, we printed colored wafer sheets on an edible ink printer and cut them into small–but not exact–squares. We put a dab of piping gel in the center, scrunched them together, and used a needle and thread to create the garland.”
The end result is what Erica describes as “fun, flirty and edible!”
