“Colin and I met in high school through our parents, which we couldn’t be more thankful for. Before I knew it Colin found a way into my heart and I never looked back. After dating for eight years, Colin proposed and we immediately knew we wanted to have an intimate wedding with our toes in the sand. The planning process was long; as we took two years to plan, we finally decided on beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico being our destination. Our travel agent recommended Secrets Puerto Vallarta and once we saw the resort we immediately knew it was the spot to host our wedding. The resort was beautiful and the beach was picture perfect. Once our location was picked it was time to pick the perfect dress. The ladies at Champagne & Lace in Chilliwack (B.C) were wonderful and so helpful. As soon as I put on the Sophia Tolli “Robin” dress I knew it was the one… perfect for a beach wedding! I said yes to the dress!
When it came to designing our dream wedding, we turned to Nayely Tello, our wedding coordinator. Nayely listened to our every word and made our vision into a reality. Colin and I wanted the scenery to speak for itself, so we went with a beach theme with a hit of a Mexican feel. No place better to use ocean colours so we went with soft blues with accents of blush pinks.
The day of our wedding was perfect. I couldn’t wait for Colin to see me in my gorgeous gown; it definitely made me feel like a princess. A little after 5pm we exchanged our vows in front of our closest family and friends under the beautifully decorated gazebo with the waves crashing in front of us. We chose some of our favorite songs to accent our ceremony, our favorite reading, and we made sure to include a sand ceremony. The ceremony definitely reflected us as a couple. After the ceremony, guests relaxed, enjoyed cocktails, and listened to the Latin trio. Appetizers were being passed around and stories and smiles were being shared. The night continued with dancing and other special surprises, including a churro bar, flaming coffee, party glow sticks, and delicious wedding cake. The room was beautifully decorated with a Love sweetheart table, wood stained tables with elegant flower arrangements, and decoration to match. While having tons of fun and dancing the night away, before we knew it was 10pm and time to wrap up the reception. Not a single element was overlooked! It truly couldn’t have gone any better, and our hearts could not have felt any fuller!
Colin and I wanted to share our special moment at home with our loved ones that couldn’t make it to Mexico. Our friends and family enjoyed a rustic theme backyard reception with a pizza food truck, sweets table, and a smore’s table. This reception was all do it yourself and we couldn’t be any happier on how it turned out. Everyone enjoyed the warm summer afternoon with some delicious cocktails, and sharing a few laughs. Colin and I are huge hikers and really wanted some photos of us in the mountains, so no better way to do this then a helicopter ride! This was truly an amazing experience and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Our amazing photographer came with us and the shots we got were stunning! We are truly lucky that our talented photographer Ariane was there to capture both of our special days.”
