“September 30th, 2016, a day my husband and I will remember for the rest of our lives! Our wedding theme was “simple-elegance” and our venue acted as the perfect backdrop for the vision we were hoping to achieve. Though we got married at the very start of autumn, I wanted to stray from the typical “fall-tone” color scheme of reds, oranges and browns. Instead, I opted for a palette of burgundy, grey and cream-colored tones, which were integrated throughout all of our wedding details.
We got married at Flowerfield, a venue located in St. James, NY. We experienced a lot of rain that day, forcing our ceremony to be moved indoors, however Flowerfield’s inherent beauty allowed us to easily forget about the not-so-sunny weather outside. Our ceremony took place in their atrium, a room that made my jaw drop the first time I ever walked into it. Its features included sky-high ceilings adorned with floating lanterns and lush greenery throughout the entire perimeter of the room.
In one corner you could find a koi pond with a bridge over it, the bridge that my father and I walked over when I made a grand entrance in my David Tutera “Beryl” gown purchased at The Wedding Plaza. It was absolutely stunning and exactly what I envisioned I’d wear on my wedding day. I felt comfortable in it, like it was made just for me. I’m only five feet tall, so I was always nervous that a wedding gown would swallow me up. The Beryl gown’s mermaid-like style was perfect for my small frame. I was actually wearing the dress, instead of the dress wearing me. If I could wear it every day I would!
After the ceremony, guests made their way into the ballroom; with vaulted ceilings accented by sweeping ivory-colored fabric, the room was grand without being overdone. We danced the night away with our family and friends. It was a fairy tale!”
