Fatima sent us a few photos from her wedding day and they were just so stunning that we had to ask to see more! What a gorgeous bride she was wearing David Tutera for Mon Cheri – Maybelle.
We asked Fatima if she could share some details about her wedding planning, her dress and her day….
“The moment I put on my “Maybelle” dress, I knew it was the one. I had been wedding dress shopping several times before and loved many dresses but nothing made me feel the way this dress did. I didn’t want to take it off! The anticipation of waiting for it to arrive several months later was agonizing! As a Muslim bride, I wanted my dress to maintain my modesty but reflect my style. The Maybelle dress did just that. I found a fantastic seamstress who helped me design and customize long sleeves with ivory lace and buttons to complement the dress. As a Muslim woman, I wear the “hijaab”—a head covering. Like any born and raised American girl, my wedding dress wasn’t going to feel complete without a classic veil, so I chose a lace adorned ivory veil that I pinned down to the fabric of my hijaab. Who says modesty can’t be beautiful?!
While wedding planning was both stressful and hectic, my wedding day went so smoothly! Note to all future brides: ENJOY your wedding day! Don’t let the small things stress you out! Be sure to designate someone in your bridal party in charge of dealing with your vendors, making last minute payments, and equip them with a contact list of emergency phone numbers so that you are not involved. Granted, there were a couple of hiccups in the day but nothing could stop me from smiling. The second I saw my husband, Hassan, I knew it was going to be a beautiful, perfect day.
